A technical training center equipped with basic technical facilities like machining, welding and fitting shops was established in 1954-55. In 1983 the facility was upgraded and modernized to include machines and training aids on CNC, Hydraulics, Pneumatic Power Systems, Advanced Electronics and Electrical Technologies. The status of the center was then raised to Technical Training Institute. For POF supervisory employees the Institute organizes six up-gradation courses of six months duration in various disciplines of engineering with intake varying from ten to twelve students. The Institute also imparts Training to two hundred apprentices in a course of two years duration. |

On further augmenting its equipment and other facilities in 1999, the Institute was renamed as POF Institute of Technology (POFIT). Now in one of its three years education programs, the Institution awards diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) in the subjects of Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Chemical and Electronics Technologies. POFIT is affiliated with Punjab Board of Technical Education Lahore. The average strength of each course is about forty students. The classes are conducted in the evening. |

| In addition to the POF employees, the DAE admission is open to all, with a pre-requirisite of Pre-Engineering Secondary School Certificate. Other than permanent instructors of the institution, the regular employees of POF are also the part of the faculty. Currently we have one Ph.D, eleven M.Sc. and sixteen B.Sc engineers in our teaching staff. We also have a pool of qualified instructors in humanity and DAE qualified Laboratory Assistants. |  |
